Ipswich town kicked start their 2018/2019 championship league with a home draw against Blackburn Rovers on August 4th, 2018. An early goal from their new signee Edwards in the 5th minute was a good motivational start for the home team whose last match between Blackburn was a home win in 2017. Ipswich Town in their previous meets with Blackburn Rovers has never had it easy. During Ipswich spell in the premier league in 1994/95 season, they were beaten both home (1:3) and away by Blackburn Rovers (4:1) only managing single consolation goals.
With a 5th minute early goal, Ipswich had approached the game with a different strategy to ensure that they secure a win in the match. The afternoon had started well for them as they kept on moving forward to get a second goal which had caused them an equalizer by Blackburn Rover’s Graham who had opened the scoring for his team in the 20th minute. The next goal did not take them up to 10 minutes before Dack slotted in another goal in the 29th minute through an assist by team mate Williams.
At the start of the second half, with lots of runs and attacks –Blackburn Rovers almost sealed with game with a third strike that was superbly defended to prevent a repeat of 1994 home win. In the 60th minute, Ipswich brought in 20 year old England youth International Tayo Edun as a substitute to boost the attack. In the 90th +1, Edun showed Ipswich that their choice of his long season loan from Fulham was not a waste. An outside 18 box strike ensured that both Ipswich Town and Blackburn Rovers shared the spoils.
