A 23-year-old man identified as Ahmed Abdullahi has been arrested by the Nasarawa state police command for stabbing his mother to death at their residence in Agyaragu area of Lafia, the state's capital. Though the cause of their "misunderstanding" is not known it was learnt that the suspect first attacked his step-mother with a kitchen knife he borrowed from a neighbour, leaving her with a cut on her leg. After she ran out of the house shouting for help, Ahmed reportedly pushed her to the ground before slitting her throat. He thereafter escaped from the scene but was nabbed in the early hours of Saturday. Eyewitnesses further revealed that the mother of the murder suspect also fled from their apartment after the children of the deceased tried avenging their mother's death. Nasarawa State's Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the arrest of the suspect and he further disclosed that he will be arraigned in court after investigation has been concluded.
