Battle Ready France Won 2018 World Cup not Africa

The gist from all corners of the world is that Africa won one of the most highly rated and prestigious competitions “The World Cup” won by France. The whole African continent is still celebrating the win and claiming the glory because of her twisted sense of reasoning.. The French national team is made of 14 players of African descent out of their 23 team squad.

The truth remains the same- they are of African descent but the quality and preparation is French. One thing, Africans have always got wrong is the fact that winning does not depend on color of your skin or the place of birth but good governance, structure and management system. Africa lacks these factors and no matter how many slots they are given in the World Cup, they will still flop.

If skin color was the winning magic then the question would be –Why did Morocco, Tunisia or Egypt who have fair-skinned players got kicked out of the first round? Africa has talents but these talents are useless without proper guidance and development. Talents cannot be harnessed unless the motive for harnessing it is first understood. Africa does not understand the game of soccer from the day it was introduced. All they see is a group of 20 people chasing a round object around a square pitch trying to play it between two poles manned by two people on opposite sides.

The game of football is a battle where the soldiers are the players, the coaches are the generals and the presidents of these countries are the Supreme commander-in-chiefs. Every country that went for the world cup came with battle-ready mindsets. They didn’t relax a bit and they were loyal till the end. They have been trained to be loyal which most African teams’ lack. They do not care whether they win or not.

Football superpowers like Brazil, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Argentina etc who were eliminated earlier than expected never expected that the underdogs like Croatia, Belgium etc would defeat them easily. These countries prepared well and were backed by their various governments to ensure that they succeed. A good example is the Croatian president who encouraged and supported the players all through the game sitting with spectators.

Africa should start thinking of organizing themselves before looking at the game of football. They are not yet matured to compete in the senior world cup.  African leagues are poorly organized and managed. Players and coaches are owed their salaries and in most cases sign-on fees are not paid. The governing bodies are not in proper shape and it is bedeviled with one problem or the order. The perfect example is the power tussle between The Nigerian Football Federation(NFF) president  Amaju Pinnick and some disgruntled parties who felt Nigeria would have done better if led by them.

Even if all the 14 African players in the French team are brought together to form an African team under the African management system, they will be eliminated in the first round. As usual, due to laziness in the book of the African continent they always want to claim glory for things they never worked for. The whole system needs to be overhauled.

France won the 2018 World Cup with French players under good governance, structure and management and not African players.
