Facebook's new look and Dark Mode are beginning to roll out

The new Facebook resembles Twitter more than anything else. It has simple, flat colors as well as a very Twitter-like top banner and home feed — not to mention plenty of rounded corners. All in all, Facebook is now sleeker, more minimalist, and decidedly more […]

Bayern frustrate Liverpool in Anfield stalemate; Lyon shares points with Barcelona

Bayern frustrate Liverpool in Anfield stalemate; Lyon shares points with Barcelona

Bayern Munich produced a superb defensive display to keep Liverpool’s attack quiet, with a 0-0 draw at Anfield leaving their Champions League last 16 tie wide open.

The opening stages were cagey before the Reds carved out some good opportunities with Mohamed Salah failing to find the target with a header while Sadio Mane screwed a shot wide from close range. But the best chance fell to Joel Matip whose first-time effort went wide.

Bayern, without the experienced trio of Arjen Roben, Thomas Muller and Jerome Boateng, were limited to half-chances with Robert Lewandowski on the fringes and marked out of the game by makeshift defender Fabinho.

Niko Kovac’s side did not exploit the absence of the suspended Virgil van Dijk but defensively got it spot on with Mats Hummels and the rest of the backline giving the home side little space to thrive.

Jurgen Klopp threw on James Milner and Divock Origi in the latter stages, but it did not change the game as the German side held on for a deserved goalless draw.

The Reds must now turn their attention to Sunday’s clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

In the second game of the night, Barcelona laboured to a fourth draw in five matches this month, with Lionel Messi and co. held to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against Lyon.

Both sides had chances to win the match, with the two goalkeepers Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Anthony Lopes the standout performers. It was the former who prevented Lyon from making the breakthrough in the first half, tipping a shot from Martin Terrier on to the crossbar.

Barcelona improved in the second half, with Luis Suarez presented with a series of opportunities to score an away goal. However, Lyon held firm to give themselves a chance of making the Champions League quarter-finals.

Ernesto Valverde’s side now have a big 10 days ahead, as they travel to Sevilla on Saturday before heading to Real Madrid for a double header in the Copa del Rey and then league next week. This is a spell that could define their season.
