“BOLT OUT OF THE BLUES”
●From Sprinter To Striker
●Hits A Brace For Mariners
Usain Bolt may have started living his dream of becoming a football star and perhaps hitting fame through the round leather beautiful sport just like he did with sprinting or athletics.
The Jamaican had called it quits after burning the tracks for years to pitch tent with football. He tried out professionally with Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund where he trained for weeks before leaving for Australia to join Mariners.
Bolt scored a brace in his first start in the 4-0 defeat of Macarthur South West. He scored the third and fourth goals and celebrated in his trademark of the Bolt arrow. He was substituted in the 75th minute.
Shortly after the tie, Bolt said, “My first start and scoring two goals. It’s a good thing. I’m happy I could come here and show the world I’m improving. I’m keen to be a Mariner, to play my best and get into the team”.
Bolt who had indicated interest to play for English Premier League giants, Manchester United made his first appearance for the Mariners on August 31 and played for 45 minutes in the second half against North Shore on September 19.
Surely, the forward will be motivated to bang in more goals to attract a move to Europe some time in the future which has been his desire. He needs to stay focused to be able to push through this dream of making a huge mark with football. Attention will now shift on Bolt just like the world followed Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus after he left Real Madrid.
