Brighton further buries Arsenal in the rubbles

Barely few hours that Ramsey one of the arsenal boys had promised that Arsenal will win all ten remaining matches to be in the top four, Brighton &Hove Albion poured more rocks on the already buried London club.

Arsenal was away to Brighton to see if they can come out of the debris caused by Manchester City. From the sound of the whistle, Brighton had a game plan. They took advantage of the already damped spirit of the Arsenal team that is still in the cooler after suffering 3 straight defeats in all competition. With an assist from Shane Duffy, Lewis Dunk had opened the scoring with a goal in the 7 minute.

Arsenal enjoyed 64% possession as against the home team’s 36% after the goal to give the Wenger boys a high moral to forge ahead. A dangerous cross from Pascal Gross gave the chance for the second goal a header from Glenn Murray in 26th minute.  Mesut Ozil in a revenge mode also put a dangerous cross to create pressure in the 18 yard box which was cleared off by Shane Duffy. Shots from Pierre – Emerick Aubameyang to change the game were proven abortive until the added time of two minutes in the first half that saw an assist from Granit Xhaka resulting to fantastic back heeled goal from Aubameyang.

The second half was impressive for both sides but there was no goal. Arsenal had a possession of 62% as against the home side of 38% at the end of the full time. Arsenal still remains in the 6th position with 45 points while Brighton is in the 10th position with 34 points level with Everton at the end of 29 games played.

On the 8th of March, Arsenal will take a trip to Italy to battle AC Milan in a round of 16 first leg matches.
