The Chinese parliament has voted for the abolish of presidential term limits. China practices communism and the former arrangement was that every president was limited to 2 five years term. With this new pronouncement, the present President of China, XI Jinping can stay beyond the year 2023.
According to the parliament, these changes were necessary because of the problems China is facing now. This move is exactly what President XI Jinping wants. He is the Head of the Military as well as the Ruling communist party.
Mao Zedong was the founder of communist China and he proclaimed the Peoples Republic on Oct.1 1949. He was also the Leader of the Chinese Communist Party from 1935-1975. He became the Head of State from 1949 – 1959.

Liu Shaoqi became the Head of State of the People’s Republic of China from 1959-1968 and seen by many as Mao’s heir. Liu was known to be among China’s outstanding communist leaders but he fell from leadership in 1968 and died in 1969 but his death was made 11 years after.
Deng Xiaoping was another ruler of China who came through the influence of the Prime Minister Zhou despite never holding an office before. He served as China’s ruler from 1978 – 1989. Jiang Zemin was appointed party Leader (General Secretary) and in 1993 he became President till he was replaced as General Secretary in 2002 by Hu Jintao who finally became president in 2003.
President Xi Jinping
It was in 2013 that Xi Jinping took over as President. His tenure was suppose end in 2023 but with this new change, Xi will become a President for live unless he decides to leave. Xi Jinping will make history as the first President to rule longer than any other since the country became a republic in 1949.
