There has been a second explosion in a military compound near the U.S embassy in Kabul shortly after an earlier explosion in the Parwan province where Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani was about to attend a political rally for the September 28 upcoming presidential election. 24 people were reported dead among them women and children who are civilians.
There is reports of possible gunshots in the area. President Ashraf Ghani is said to be safe and tens of thousands of security personnel have been deployed to prevent further attacks which is believed to be linked to the Taliban.
Security in Afghanistan has deteriorated over time such that government officials and political chiefs move from one part of the country to another in military armored vehicles.
It has been confirmed that at least 3 people were killed in the second explosion near the U.S embassy which involved a military vehicle.
