ID Card Wahala

Memoirs of Krakpor

ID Card Wahala

I know a lot of people hate the NPF (Nigerian Police Force) including me until last week Friday morning when I had to change my perception about them totally. They are not as bad as you think and if you have encountered them in one way or the other which in most cases is unfavorable, don’t hate them but…

Last week Friday morning, yours truly Krakpor stood in front of one the eateries at a junction waiting for a client at about 10am when an open back Hilux truck filled with building material drove into the car park with two police men. One sat with the driver and the other one at the back of the truck. They were already in a heated argument as the man came down from his car.

You need to appreciate the appearance of these two police officers. They were combat ready with all the gadgets you will see only in action movies. They brandished AK 47 guns and looked like they were going for a sinister mission. The officer who sat with driver was short while his colleague was tall. The way the tall police officer jumped out of the truck before it stopped, you will know that Jackie Chan is an apprentice in jumping out of vehicles.

“Look young man, you must follow us to the station” The short Policemen barked

“For what? I am going anywhere. What is my offence?” The man replied

“Impersonation?” The tall Policeman answered

“How? My brother can you hear him?”  The man said as he turned around to seek my opinion.

Lo and behold he was the client I was waiting for. I did not even know he was the one because he was standing in front of me with while he faced the two officers.

“Mr. Eze, I didn’t even know you were the one” I said

“Good, you already have an accomplice. You are in deep trouble now” The tall police officer said

“OC, I know this man and he is my client. He cannot impersonate anybody” I said

“This man is a suspect. He said he is the owner of a company and yet his ID (Identity) card shows Project Manager” The short officer replied

“Haba! It is not impersonation at all” I said as I brought out my ID card to show the policemen “I own my own firm but my position is Estate Surveyor.

The tall officer quickly grabbed my ID card, looked at it before pocketing it. He scrutinized me very well and said “Mr Krakpor, you want to teach me my work?”

“You have been charged for aiding and abetting a criminal suspect for impersonation and verbally obstructing a criminal investigation.”

“If you own a company, your ID cards should read CEO and not Project Manager or Estate Surveyor” The short officer said

That was how I spent my whole day with my client in the police station trying to educate the Nigerian Police Force.

Do I need to hate the police? No. What they need is serious spiritual deliverance by a combined team of MOG (Men of God). Have a lovely week ahead.
