US president Donald Trump has seemingly alluded to going back to the olden days when spies were executed after new information was released by the Whistle blower in the current Ukrainian scandal currently engulfing the White House. Donald Trump is embroiled in a scandal about whether he improperly used his position as US President to try to coerce Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky into investigating Trump’s 2020 political opponent, former Vice President Joe Biden by possibly withholding $400m of military aid to Ukraine. The information became public after an intelligence community whistleblower complaint was declassified by the intelligence community and made public for congress on Thursday. The whistle blower complaint is based on discussions with US officials in the know, and alleges that the White House tried to cover up the phone call with Ukraine's president Zelensky by hiding the transcript in a secret electronic system meant for state secrets. In a private meeting with US staffers at the United Nations on Thursday, President Trump ranted about the “spies” within his administration who must have given any information to the Whistleblower and joked about punishing them the way “we used to do in the old days” — seemingly referring to the practice of executing spies for treason,a very infamous way of punishing treason centuries ago. Trump in the just released audio told the staffers;"Basically, that person never saw the report, never saw the call, he never saw the call — heard something and decided that he or she, or whoever the hell they saw — they’re almost a spy,” . “I want to know who’s the person, who’s the person who gave the whistleblower the information? Because that’s close to a spy.”“You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart? Right? The spies and treason, we used to handle it a little differently than we do now,” he continued. The post ‘In the old days we handle spies differently’ – Trump alludes to executing whoever is responsible for informing the whistle blower appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
