CAF Presidential election is around the corner. March 12 precisely. The candidates are out.

Ahmad Ahmad lost the battle to retain his seat as he has been cleared by Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) to return to his position thus nullifying his initial ban. But the screening committee declared him ineligible for the election.

This was after Executive Council of CAF pushed the decision of the possibility or otherwise of Ahmad to contest in the coming election to FIFA.

Stakeholders in the continent's football circle are already tipping the emergence of a new President for CAF thus, believing that Ahmad won't make it especially after dragging his case and ban to CAS.

So who are the candidates contesting Ahmad's seat? Observers opine that none of the candidates really possesses the administrative savvy, competence, knowledge of the sport and character to lead African football and that could grossly affect the sport in the continent.

The stepping in of one of the candidates who is a billionaire businessman and owner of South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns cast a dark shadow on the whole election as it is assumed that the election may become a "highest bidder" affair.

PATRICE MOTSEPE

Patrice Motsepe is worth $2.7 Billion as of March 2014. He is age 52, and made his monthy from mining.

He resides in Johannesburg, South Africa and is married with 3 children.

AHMED YAHYA

Ahmed Yahya is the Mauritanian federation (FFRIM) since 2011. Yahya was named the continent's best football administrator at the 2017 Caf awards.

He is the fourth to enter into the race for CAF Presidency.
