Enter Iskilu Wakili

Nigerians have heard and seen Terwase Akwaza, Nnamdi Kanu and lately Sunday Igboho

We once knew Gani Adams, Asari Dokubo, Tompolo, Henry Okah and a host of others.

They all have one thing in common. They come with the initial posture of agitating for the rights of their oppressed and marginalised people. But along the line few of them change ideologies.

Today, a new name emerges. He is Iskilu Wakili. He is Fulani. He is being accused of spearheading banditry, kidnappings and killings in the farmlands and forests of the South West

He has been changed to court after he was arrested by Oyo State Police Command.

His case is a high profile one just like that of Nnamdi Kanu for leading IPOB slammed with a terrorists toga....and Henry Okah who was slammed for Abuja bomb blast some years ago.

How this case will pan out remains a mystery in the minds of many even as some have already thrown in the towel on ground that nothing will come out of it. In other words, Wakili will be set free against all odds.

Wakili himself had said on arrest that he has done nothing wrong and he is innocent of what he is being accused of. He said members of his household have been victims of kidnappers and kidnappings and he had spent millions on ransom to rescue them.

Those against Wakili say there are more than enough proof to show that he is as guilty as charged and he is the kingpin of the mayhem going on in the South West.

Nigerians fold their arms to watch and wait on the outcome of this case. Meanwhile, more and more atrocities are being committed by the bandits.

In the last four days there have been two serious kidnapping cases in Kaduna. The lastest is the primary school pupils abducted alongside some of their teachers.

It is left to be seen how government will rescue them especially now that Sheikh Abubakar Gumi has withdrawn from negotiations after the backlash he got from Nigerians.

President Muhammadu Buhari has also said, he will not give in to pressure of negotiating with bandits or forced to grant them unnecessary Amnesty.

His shoot at sight order on unauthorised AK 47 wielding bandits or herders is a clear testament to his stand on bandits and banditry.

How Wakili will escape from this remains to be seen. But will he be the scapegoat?
