TOP WRESTLER SET TO DUMP NIGERIA?
The talent drain that hit Nigerian sporting circle years ago is still on the high side as home grown talents dump the country in search of greener pastures.
It is speculated that following the ugly drama between Team Nigeria athletes and the sports administrators in the Tokyo Olympics a top wrestler could be the latest person to take up another nationality after the Tokyo Games.
If it turns out to be true, the wrestler joins the likes of hurdler Gloria Alozie (now of Spain), sprinter Francis Obikwelu of Portugal and Edidiong Odiong of Bahrain among scores of others.
The major reasons behind this moves is the economic situation of the country and poor welfare package for and of our sportsmen and women.
Obikwelu in an interview he granted BBC, said, "Dumping Nigeria for Portugal was the best career decision I made."
Alozie equally said, "It was after taken up Spanish citizenship that I began to appreciate that I'm a professional."
