Hattrick For Europe's Most Underrated Forward

Paul Ebere Onuachu netted a hattrick in Genk's 3-0 trouncing of Seirag in a Jupiler League fixture.

He earlier missed a spot-kick, but scored all of Genk’s goals at the Cegeka Arena to prove that he is the most lethargic Nigerian striker in Europe

He ended last season with a total of 37 goals. This season he has netted 11. Nine in the League, one in the Champions League and one in Europa League.

That sums up how prolific Onuachu is. He is one of the hottest strikers in Europe in the last two consecutive seasons.

Many argue that the Belgium league he plies his football trade is responsible for the manner top clubs in Europe are ignoring him despite his exploits.

This writer thinks otherwise. His agent may not have raised the bar in his job of marketing the player through contacting bigger agents and their scouts.

Football business is taking different approaches, methodologies and dimensions. In fact, it is evolving by day.

I once asked is the Jupiler League of Belgium not the same league that produced Romelu Lukaku who straight from Belgium landed in England with Chelsea? What about Eden Hazard? Thibaut Cortois among others.

Truth is European top clubs are underrating Onuachu and it boils down to how his agent has been going about his transfer talk. No man is an island. You need to connect with people to break even or hit your breakthrough.

That Onuachu is not playing in England, Italy, France or Germany this season remains a surprise given his efforts or performance last season.

Let's hope he ups his form to push for more goals. If he can get anywhere near 30 goals this season, he would have made it very emphatic to top agents, coaches and clubs that he is the next big thing in football.

Slow and steady wins the race. Onuachu, remain focused with your head low. Keep banging in the goals. It's just a matter of time for you to make the much anticipated switch to one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
