On the 20th of October 2020, peaceful protesters were shot at the Lekki Toll gate by armed military men that led to loss of lives and destruction of properties by hoodlums who had hijacked the peaceful EndSARS protest. A team of government officials were sent from Abuja to assess the level of damage of properties. It was in the process of assessment that ex-Governor of Lagos state, the present minister of works and housing Babatunde Fashola found a camcorder at the scene of the shooting some days after the whole place has been cleaned by officials of LAWMA (Lagos State Waste Management Authority).

There was an outrage from all quarters on the discovery of the camera as it appeared as a setup scene. It drew a lot of criticisms from all Nigerians as so many people lost faith in the ex-Governor as well as the Nigerian government. Babatunde Fashola who was highly respected for all his wonderful achievements during his time as Lagos State governor lost his integrity. He was immediately given the title “Agent Fash” as a form of mockery.
The year 2020 is at the brink of rounding up and the panel set up to handle the Lekki Shooting incidence as well as the issues of Police brutality has been running for more than two months but no reference has been made to the findings of the “Fashola Camera”. What was the content of the camera? Was the evidence in the camera not substantial enough to exonerate the government of any indictment in the shooting? Or the panelists had to discard the plan of using the evidence from the camera since the CNN came out with better evidence?
Nigerians need to know what was in the camera that the honorable minister flew all the way from Abuja to discover. What our detectives and the whole Nigerian Police Force could not find in five days, Mr. Fashola found in less than an hour.
Don’t you think Nigerians have the right to know about the mystery camera?
