OndoDecides: Will PDP repeat the feat of victory as they did in Edo State?

Ondo Elections

Edo decided that Governor Obaseki continue his good work in the state under a different party People Democratic Party who last tasted power in the state 12 years ago. Godwin Obaseki who was formerly in the ruling party the All Peoples Congress (APC) had fought seriously against godfatherism hence he was pushed out by the godfather of the state APC Comrade Adams Oshiomole. Even when the APC strongest man Bola Tinubu came on air to say nobody should vote Governor Godwin Obaseki for his behavior and defection to the opposition party PDP, he was told “ Edo no be Lagos (Edo is not Lagos). This meant that his powers were limited to Lagos state and that what applies to Lagos and the other western state is not applicable in Edo state.  Bola Tinubu had left Lagos for Edo State but at the end of the day, PDP came out victorious with Governor Obaseki retaining his seat but under a new party.

Barely a month, another election is coming up on Saturday, 11th October, 2020 but in Ondo State. With what had happened in Edo State, the PDP party has awakened and pushing harder unlike in the past where an incumbent governor is given a Passover. The PDP flag bearer Mr Eyitayo Jegede is battle ready. In a statement by his campaign spokesman Mr Gbenga Akinmoyo in Akure, he said that 11 of the 16 aspirants from the different parties have collapsed their structures to support him. With this massive boost and support from the other candidates, the PDP is sure to give the APC a scare. The APC are sounding a warning to the PDP by saying “Ondo no be Lagos”. What they are telling PDP is that Ondo State is a different ball game. In the case of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki was incumbent governor but switched sides giving the PDP the opportunity of taking back power. In Ondo state, the incumbent governor is APC Rotimi Akeredolu. The APC has the upper hand as well as federal might if the presidency will be a part of it unlike the manner in which they remained neutral in Edo state.  The election was free and fair. The people got who they wanted. The PDP are in high spirits. Could it be because of the fact the APC strongman had distant himself from Ondo after suffering humiliation and defeat in Edo state?

Will the PDP pull the same stunt they did in Edo State to make the Ondo people vote their conscience and not who was forced on them?
