Power of Social Media

The social media is no doubt very influential or to put it better, powerful. We saw the power of social media in the recent faceoff between our government and Twitter.

Social Media changes lives. It picks people from grass to grace...from the gutters to the gardens. It shapes the society. It's a marketplace where no one can hide. It whips erring leaders into shape or on line.

The social media has really made many and it is still making more. Below are just few picks and reminder of those who will forever remain grateful to social media.

26-year old Mary Daniel, the amputee pure water seller who was spotted in Oshodi by a Nigerian who sympathised with her situation and published her chat with him with photos to accompany on social media. Today Daniel is a proud landlady. She recently bought an apartment in Igando, a Lagos suburd worth N17.5m

He became a popular internet sensation, for his funny way of spelling words. Celebrities identified with him and helped made him an instant celeb.

But some time in May 2021, reports alleged that he was seen back on the streets looking bad.

•SALLE THE HAWKER

The 17-year old hawker who was discovered by curious Nigerians after her routine daily hawking job.

She is a good songster. She has been contacted by Rihanna and CNN after a brief studio work through the help of those who discovered her.
