The Enforcers of the Law Are The First To Break The Law

There is the popular notion that all Nigerian Laws in respect to discipline are only made on paper but never enforced. The only era where laws were enforced was during the Military regime. There was real discipline as lots of Nigerians were flogged and made to pass through some corporal punishment. Even though some of them were inhumane the effect kept everybody in line.

In a country like Nigeria, indiscipline is like the daily air we breathe for so many people across board. It is very sad that those who you believed were exposed and will uphold the law are the first to break the law. One of the main culprits of such indecent behavior of law breaking are the law enforcers themselves. The Nigerian Police Force are well known for breaking the same laws that they were supposed to enforce.  Policemen are very fond of breaking traffic rules by driving one-way and the wrong side of the road. They even encourage commercial drivers to do the same when they sit in their buses and claim to be "staff". They allow commercial bike riders to do as they like on the road because they collect money from them.

The military are not left out in this whole issue as they equally play their own part in breaking rules. These days some of them are now for hire to get involved in civilian matters. Some of them have become "staff" for commercial drivers so as to help break traffic laws and other rules. Imagine a Policeman as shown in the cover picture urinating on the wall irrespective of the sign placed on the wall by his own force.
