In 2014 ace comedian now lawmaker, Hon. Uche Ogbuagu released a blockbuster album which he titled BAD CONDITION.

It was a beauty. It was a knockout. It was a sellout. It shot him into "higher limelight" if there is coinage like that. It was satirical. It was Uche Ogbuagu at his best. It was a chemistry of jokes, music, folktales, adages, satire, advice and warnings to oppressors and lovers of bad governance.

It was full of messages to all and sundry. It came in two separate volumes based on popular demand. It was the bomb.

Today, it seems that, that album was actually a prophecy by the prophet himself. Yes, you may call Hon. Ogbuagu a prophet and you won't be wrong. After releasing that album seven years ago, it appears Hon. Ogbuagu is presently in a "Bad Condition." He may have seen tomorrow. He may have spoken about or to himself.

News from Owerri says, Hon. Ogbuagu is facing suspension moves by his colleagues. First, he was impeached as Majority Leader of Imo House of Assembly on March 4, 2021....and now he is facing suspension moves. His fate will be known on March 25, 2021.

For those who don't know him, Ogbuagu is the comedian cum entertainer who won election as a lawmaker representing Ikeduru State Constituency in Imo House of Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He was one of the lawmakers who switched loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as soon as the Supreme Court ruled on January 14, 2020 that Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha vacates office as governor for His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma to assume office.

While those who voted the 12 lawmakers switching loyalty including Hon. Ogbuagu into office were expecting them to close ranks and fight against a fellow party member in the person of Ihedioha, they cross carpeted within days.

This shocked many including the electorates who felt robbed by those the entrusted power on. Hon. Ogbuagu was quick to tell Imolites and the world that his decision was for the interest of the good people of Ikeduru State Constituency who he consulted before defecting to the governing party.

But about a year after the whole drama of defection or switching camps or party or loyalty, it seems things are falling apart between Ogbuagu and his colleagues in the House of Assembly.

Those who know say, some lawmakers close to the Governor, Senator Uzodinma who have pledged loyalty to him and passed vote of confidence on him have schemed out Ogbuagu in a clear power tussle and battle for relevance.

Says, one of the lawmakers who spoke to this writer on account of anonymity, "Uche Ogbuagu is a butterfly taking itself to be a bird. He wants to flex muscles in a terrain he is very new and strange to. This is politics and not comedy or entertainment. But he is already making a joke of himself. "

To observers, it appears the chicken is coming home to roost. It appears nemesis is fast catching up on all those who threw their weights behind the exit of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha from Douglas House one way or the other.

Those close to Hon. Ogbuagu say, it is no laughing matter. It is no joke at all. In fact, the former comedian may be looking for comic relief to calm his nerves as he is under immense pressure.

Ogbuagu's jokes and professional works as a comedian earned him great respect and honour across the South East as he used his works to keep people happy. He told the truth about government then.

His satirical work cum jokes exposed the ills of government and it's officials even as he proffered solutions on how best to run government.

Hon. Ogbuagu is so knowledgeable especially in areas of culture and tradition of Ndigbo. He brought this to bear on his works....just as his delivery is so smooth, discreet and fun-filled.

Comedy brought him close to the high and mighty even as it elevated his status from a commoner to a lawmaker.

But events of the past 15 months has cast a dark shadow on the man, Uche Ogbuagu, his works as a comedian and his call by his people to serve them in Imo House of Assembly.

Critics say, it is one thing to be a good critic, social crusader and rights activist....yet it is another thing to find yourself in position of power, authority and influence.... especially in using them for humanity and to better mankind.

They say it is a different ball game entirely. It is one thing to be a good critic yet another to be a successful public servant.

It is really no joking matter for Hon. Ogbuagu at the moment. But we wait to see how he wriggles out of this web.

Truth remains that he is in a Bad Condition!!!
