Not all rich men flaunt wealth and not all.poor men beg.

But when you see a man who sits on wealth yet decides to live a life of a pauper by given up wealth and affluence then, you pause a little to discover the planet he comes from.

José Alberto "Pepe" Mujica Cordano served as the 40th President of Uruguay from 2010 to 2015. He is described as the POOREST PRESIDENT in the world. He abhors materialism and prefers to be poor....yes, not even modest but poor.

He was a farmer. He was born on May 20, 1935.

A former guerrilla with the Tupamaros, he was imprisoned for 12 years during the military dictatorship in the 1970s and 1980s.

A member of the Broad Front coalition of left-wing parties, Mujica was Minister of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries from 2005 to 2008 and a Senator afterwards. As the candidate of the Broad Front, he won the 2009 presidential election and took office as President on 1 March 2010 till March 1, 2015. He was Senate President between 2015 and 2018.

He refused to live in the Presidential Palace but preferred a one-room farm apartment owned by his wife.

He had just two guards which includes a 3-leg little dog. He didn't use official car but drove an old Volkswagen beetle also owned by his wife.

He runs or operates an account without money as he donated his earnings to the poor and for charity work.

He was an activist and social crusader who was severally jailed and severely tortured. His torture affected his health grossly.

Do you need any other or a better example of a good leader or president?
