Nigeria and the Sentiment Course.

Politics

Nigeria and the Sentiment Course.

Nigeria and the Sentiment Course.

Our country Nigeria is one of the most unique countries you can ever think of. It is a country with highly intelligent and knowledgeable citizens but yet confused in the way of applying that same knowledge and intelligence. Nigerians are governed by their feelings and emotions rather than logical reasoning. If Nigeria as a country is to be tested on a Sentiment Course that involves if we are being controlled by our sentiments the score will be above 100% (if allowed).

Nigeria as a country and as a people is easily manipulated by their emotions. We do and apply things based on these emotions.  The truth is that we do not really know what we want, what works for us, what does not work for us and the reason why it is not working. In every aspect of our lives it is sentiments. Our inability to forgive one another is based on a total takeover of who we are. And it is one of the major reasons why we can’t grow as a country or as a people. All we want is payback.

The whole social media is on fire with different people attacking themselves over the different presidential candidates. Everybody has gone into research to attack their opponents. The effort we use as Nigerians to fight each other over politicians out of sentiments is enough to help us create businesses that meet needs.

Citizens from the different regions have been calling for the head of President Mohammadu Buhari because he could not fix what was destroyed in 16 years under 3 years. A lot wished him dead. And because of PMB, the Fulani tribe was branded evil and devilish following the various killings by terrorists assuming the name herdsmen. Another Fulani in the person of Abubakar Atiku has emerged from the same party that was accused of raping the country for 16 years. And all of a sudden, Fulani tribe has suddenly turned from evil and devilish to saints and progressive. And the South-East who never liked the North has suddenly forgiven the North because a running mate from the region has been selected. All sins are forgiven as long as you defeat our enemy.

The youths have been clamoring for a chance to rule and based on history, our first military rulers were in their 30s but since the inception of democracy, it has been the league of the oldies. The example normally sited for reference in this present day dispensation is the president of France who is 39 years. Now the opportunity has come for the youths to take over but based on the sentiment control factor they are focused elsewhere. One of the presidential candidates would represent the youths very well in the person of Fela Durotoye but nobody is talking about him. The youths are so focused on the upcoming battle between PMB who said they were lazy and Atiku who they believe can hurt their enemy. Why not back another youth to fight PMB and take back your future instead another candidate of the same age? They are no longer concerned about their future all because of sentiments.

The Bring Back Our Girls crooner Dr.Obiageli  Ezekwesili is coming out to contest the presidency but is she getting support from the women folk? The answer is a big NO. The president of Germany is a woman and most of the Nigerian women admire her but would they support the one that is bold enough to contest? It is another NO because we are blinded by sentiments. Even her region south-east will not support her because women can’t rule men. Dr. Moghalu is a man, while not give him the support? The answer is that he can’t fight our common enemy.

Everybody is focused on the largesse that will be shared when the election comes from the big parties. Nobody cares about whether the country moves forward or their future. It is a case of “Do me, I do you, God no go vex” (P Square song)

Nigerians will never move from where they are until the day, we drop our sentiments and start reasoning logically. We will continue to run around in circles and crawl like snail without getting anywhere. We will never learn.
