Poise Nigeria, Ekobits Trust And Oxfam Empowers Youths In Global Technology Skills In ICTBits Schools are transforming the lives of young people from underprivileged backgrounds by offering range of training in ICT, graphics design and digital media.On Saturday, 5th October, 2019, Poise Nigeria and EkoBits Academy in partnership with Oxfam transformed lives by graduating 50 youths from the slum areas of Lagos that have just completed a 12 months training programme organized by Ekobits Trust Foundation. The graduation took place at Poise Training School.EkoBits ICT Trust Foundation is part of the network of Bits Schools that offer demand aligned training in creative technology targeted at youth from the less privileged community. EkoBits Academy is an initiative of the Work in Progress Alliance, Oxfam Novib and Butterfly Works, a social and design innovations studio in the Netherlands which partnered and set up Nairobits in Nairobi, Kenya in 1999 and has since been involved in springing up Bits Schools ( www.wearebits.org) around the world. Since its commencement in Nigeria through Poise, it has trained over 290 students from different communities in Lagos and Edo State and empowered them through trainings in Graphics design, Web design & development, Photography & Video Editing.  In an interview with the Project Lead Mr Innih Ikhide, stated that the success and impact of this projects is growing beyond imagination. Many jobs have been created, the foundation is also working with many state governments to set up similar project in their state using the Edo State model as a reference platform. Our goal at Ekobits is to give youths in Nigeria an opportunity by training and empowering them to realize their full potentials in their careers which is in alignment with our company’s mission. Awards and recognition were given in different categories; Mr Samuel Seniga was given an award as the Best graduating male student, Miss Angel Osuji as the best graduating female student, Mr Okonkwo Ifeanyi as best Graphic designer, Mr Ogunbanjo David as best Web developer, Miss Innocent Chikodi as Most distinguished student and Mr Quadri Emmanuel as Best Photographer.Guest speakers at the final graduation were Ms. Halimah Layeni, Founder Life After Abuse Foundation and Mr Nwite Joseph, MD Sanjos Communications. Ms Layeni shared her own personal story and motivated the Students never to give up on their dreams and always seek constant improvement to remain relevant and not at the mercy of anyone.Mr Nwite advised students present to seek for an internship positions to understand how things work in the world of work.
