Match day 9 is a day that Borussia M’gladbach will not forget in a hurry after they were denied a joint top spot with Leaders Borussia Dortmund. SC Freiburg had opened the scoring session at the sound of the whistle to get the game started through Nils Peterson in the first minute.
Thorgan Hazard, younger brother of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard converted a 20th minute penalty to help his side end the first half on a level term. As soon as the second half kicked the home team, Freiburg playing in front of their fans put themselves in the lead with a 57th minutes strike from Luka Waldschmidt. It was substitute Lucas Holer who came at the 89th minute that finally sealed the game with a strike from the center part of the field with a lovely strike when M’gladbach goal keeper Yann Sommer left his post to clear a ball.
With this result, M’gladbach remains in the second position at 17 points while Werder Bremen is on 17 points with a game in hand. Today’s win moved SC Freiburg to the 8th position with 12 points.
