We Need An Urgent Cabinet Reshuffle
He loves culture. He loves tradition. He celebrates the customs of his homeland. He loves the heritage of his homeland. He is not shy to prove it. He embraces it openly or publicly. He exhibits it naked. He bares it all. He cares less about what anyone thinks, feels, assumes or says. He is the real custodian of the culture of his homeland. He could qualify for traditional Prime Minister of his people.
He is Barr Solomon Dalung, Nigeria’s Sports Minister who displays hus strength, stamina and skills once he is home to celebrate the customs of his homeland. What he could not achieve as Sports Minister, he does with ease in his hometown. Each time he is at home or in his village, he pulls the attractions.
He is like the “jungle boy”, the real “African child”…..a proud local boy who climbed to the pinnacle of his dream….and stands tall to scream, YES, I HAVE ARRIVED. His presence in the corridors of power will not dwarf his high sense and respect for the beliefs of his people. He has experienced civilisation at the topmost level given his position in government yet he cannot forget his roots. Give it to this man who is so hated by sports loving Nigerians for his poor performance in sports as minister…..yet excelling in the customs and ways of life of his people. Give it to him for propelling and selling his culture to the world. This could boost tourism….It could attract tourists….It could boost forex if looks at the business side of his love for culture….not just for the fun of it.
I sincerely think the man is in a wrong ministry. I honestly think President Muhammadu Buhari did us (Nigerians) a huge disservice by putting Dalung in a wrong ministry. This could or should be reversed immediately. Dalung has proven to love culture so much so that he was given a chieftaincy title in 2017. Mr. President should just crown the efforts of Dalung’s people for identifying his qualities and love for culture by making him MINISTER FOR CULTURE AND TOURISM even if it is for the remaining days of this government or his first term before election.
I am serious. No insult meant! This is not being comical or satirical. The man is a true ambassador of his people….and by extension an ambassador of the culture and tradition of Nigeria. He is surely in a wrong ministry. No apologies! I strongly believe there are others like Dalung in Buhari’s cabinet who could function better in other portfolios or designations. Perhaps the portfolios and functions handed to them in September 2015 are overwhelming. They need to move to the right positions for the country to improve. Mr. President over to you! Can we have a cabinet reshuffle immediately especially as most of your ministers are either tired or hungry for other positions like being governors or senators?
