●As 81-year old Algeria President Eyes 5th Term
●Has Been Battling With Stroke Since 2013
The man on a wheelchair pictured here is President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria. He is 81 years old. He suffered stroke in 2013 and has been battling with the ailment while in office.
He is heading for Switzerland where he will undergo a routine medical check up that will last for weeks. His country is going into a general election in April and the man once described as “a mere vegetable” by the opposition in his country is seeking a fifth term in office. It has been alleged that those around him (his kitchen cabinet) has been running the government since he was struck by stroke.
Bouteflika came to power in 1999. He has held unto power since then going into election after election even with his poor state of health which degenerated six years ago following an attack of stroke.
Does this aged man want to die in power/office? What is really wrong with Africa? Or is it about African leaders?
